Student Day 2015

Last week, Caliber was excited to send our Account Executive, Mari Klotzbach, to the South Dakota Advertising Federation’s annual Student Day. This event has an excellent mission and is a great experience for students attending colleges and universities throughout the region to connect, meet and learn from ad professionals in Sioux Falls.
Mari was at the morning session, spearheading one of the roundtables, where students could ask her questions, seek career advice and just meet-and-greet and learn more about our agency.
A few takeaways from the event:
- The local colleges and universities are doing a great job providing students with real-world projects that prepare them for a career in marketing. One example: Augustana University marketing promotions students are working with a new luxury living (apartments) concept in Watertown, SD. The class is broken down into teams with each team developing a marketing plan to pitch to their client at the end of the semester. This plan would be a great sample to show potential employers and something to highlight on a resume!
- Students are hungry for internships! If you’re seeking an internship opportunity at Caliber, please contact us.
- Colleges and universities and offering new degrees focused on marketing analytics and research. Yay!
- An old-school handwritten thank you note goes a long way. Sometimes the simplest gestures make the biggest impact (see photo above).
