Name:
Tessa Kopren

What is your hometown: Prairie City, SD

What and where are you studying?
I am currently pursuing a degree in public relations with a double minor in marketing and social media at South Dakota State University. I will graduate this December. Go Jacks!

What brought you to Caliber?
Maybe it was fate..or maybe it was Caliber’s advertising. I was scrolling through Facebook one morning when I saw an ad for the internship, it sparked my interest. The following afternoon I saw another ad on Instagram. I applied and now I’m here!

What do you do at Caliber?
Within my summer internship at Caliber, I will be helping develop content, assist with managing social media accounts, and fill in anywhere else I’m needed.

What do you like to do in your free time?
I’m a social butterfly, so I am usually hanging out with friends or family when I have free time. I love attending different events and traveling. I am currently saving up for my next big trip, I hope to make it to Italy in the next couple years!

What’s your secret talent?
Cat whispering. When I was in elementary school I ran my own cat taming business. It obviously wasn’t very successful, but I still pride myself in this secret talent.

What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?
I spent my summers working on our family ranch. Typically, I would be in the hay fields driving the raking tractor. I spent every day driving up and down fields, singing along with the radio and eating “tractor treats.”

Three things you can’t live without?

  1. Coffee. It’s the reason I am ALIVE right now.
  2. Music. There’s a song for every mood.
  3. Social media. I love keeping up-to-date with my friends!

What’s been the best part of joining the Caliber crew?
They told me I might gain the ‘Caliber 15’ because of all the yummy treats… I’m not exactly sure if this is going to be the best part, but I’ll keep everyone posted at the end of the summer when I jump on the scale.

Salty or sweet?
Sweet! I love chocolate.

Would you rather only be able to whisper or only be able to shout?
SHOUT! I’m not a big fan of repeating myself, so whispering wouldn’t be the best option.

You just got back from studying abroad. What was the best part about Spain?
Spain has so much to offer, but my favorite part was the time spent with my host family every night at dinner. In Spain, they typically don’t eat dinner until 9:30 or 10 p.m., so staying awake long enough to eat was a struggle. However, I was encouraged by getting to visit with my host family for hours on end and the new foods that I was able to try, like rabbit – which is surprisingly very good!

Favorite summer activity?
Although I’m not a huge fan of fish touching my feet, I love going to the lake and camping. Nothing beats a long day in the sun followed by s’mores and roasted hot dogs.

What’s your favorite font?
Arial. I like the simplicity and I think this font is great to use with informational copy and it’s easy to read!

What writing/grammatical error sin makes you cringe?
The oxford comma.

Who is your dream client to work with?
I don’t necessarily have a specific dream client, but I would love to work with tourism and agriculture clients.

What are three things you want to learn/learn more about during your internship?
I want to strengthen my writing skills, learn different design concepts and become more familiar with Caliber’s awesome clients!
