Caliber Summer Kickstart

By Kristi Kooima, Account Executive

Caliber has an event to kick off summer and our summer hours each year around this time. It helps reinforce the work hard, play hard team mentality and encourages us to get out and enjoy summer. I figured that the Caliber team knew how to give summer a kickstart, and my assumptions were about to be confirmed.

Last Thursday afternoon, we were told to assemble in the conference room for our instructions. Some thought we were skydiving, others thought we were in for a trampoline park or possibly a ninja warrior obstacle course.

With some help from the art department, we were presented with a custom printed Caliber Creative gift box with branded items including a Don’t Mess Around tee, a journal book, golf balls, stickers and everyone’s favorite item, a Don’t Mess Around magnetic koozie.

Being an advertising agency, it’s obvious there was a video created for the event! There were various video clips from sports movies like “A League of Their Own,” “Bad News Bears,” “Kicking and Screaming,” “The Karate Kid” and “Rocky,” to name a few. Let’s just say the video was meant to break us down to build us back up! Watch here for yourself:

After the video, we were presented with the agenda, which included sand volleyball. On our way out of the office to meet up at the volleyball court, we each randomly chose a headband with matching aviator sunglasses to determine teams.

When we arrived, Coaches Schultz and DeVille were playing the part with the knee-high socks and whistles – they don’t mess around. It was like when clients ask us to develop something cool, Brad and Casey went all in to take this to the next level. Not even the spring heat wave could stop them from taking their coaching role seriously.

The blue team was led by Coach Schultz. Mandy, Jake and Kelly rounded out the team. Mikena, Austin and Kristi joined Coach DeVille on the white team.

We all had fun while playing white against blue and Coach DeVille’s white team took home the win. However, even though some feet were raw and the sun was scorching, we decided there should be a guys versus gals game – after all, we have an even number of both. I won’t say who won (there may have been some creative scorekeeping), but I will tell you the guys are currently on office cleaning duty for the next week!

Happy unofficial start to summer!
