Dog Days at Caliber

By Mikena Albers, Account Assistant

Shorter hours, sand volleyball league, and meeting on patios are what Caliber summers are made of.

Since this is the first summer that a few of us are celebrating with Caliber, I had a few hard-hitting questions for the team (knowing what flavor of ice cream everyone orders is IMPORTANT). It was also a fun way to get to know how everyone spends the best season of the year.

Strawberry, chocolate, vanilla or twist?

Tiffany: Strawberry and vanilla twist

Mikena: Strawberry

Mandy: Vanilla

Brad: Chocolate

Casey: Chocolate and vanilla twist

Jenny: Chocolate and vanilla twist

Kelly: Strawberry and vanilla twist

Kristene: Most days it’s chocolate, unless I’m at B&G Milkyway, then it’s strawberry or the highway.

What’s your favorite summer activity?

Tiffany: Being outside! Kayaking, although I haven’t had a chance to go yet this year.

Mikena: Drinking mojitos on an outdoor patio

Mandy: I can’t pick one – Hiking, boating and laying in my hammock

Brad: Walleye management

Casey: Golf, being outdoors in general with the family

Jenny: Hiking and gardening

Kelly: Hanging out with my kids and volleyball

Kristene: Eating ice cream, sometimes I take short breaks.

What’s the most unusual summer job you’ve ever had?

Tiffany: I worked in a corn field, also worked in a corn dog stand, you can pick which is more unusual.

Mikena: I nannied an 11-year-old kid that said a max of ten words to me all summer. That’s pretty unusual, right?

Mandy: Worked at a vinyl and graphics shop one summer and helped wrap race cars, trucks and other vehicles.

Brad: Stunt show roadie

Casey: I worked in a golf warehouse for one summer. That job was tough on the paycheck.

Jenny: I assembled lamps at a new Hobby Lobby.

Kristene: It’s probably not unusual in the midwest, but de-tasseling corn was my job for one long week.

Finish this sentence: Summer is _______

Tiffany: The happiest time of the year. I tend see friends and extended family more, and I spend my time outside soaking up that vitamin C!

Mikena: Bliss.

Mandy: The best.

Brad: Short…enjoy it!

Casey: That magical season that makes you forget about winter for a bit.

Jenny: Humid

Kelly: All about outdoor activities

Kristene: After spring and before fall.

And finally, the most frequently asked question of summer – burger or brat?

Tiffany: Brat

Mikena: I spend 90% of my life daydreaming about the pineapple brats from HyVee

Mandy: Burger all the way

Brad: Two of each please

Casey: I won’t refuse either

Jenny: Brat – but most importantly the relish.

Kelly: Burger

Kristene: Burger, I don’t like being called a brat
