What the Boss Learned From the Intern

By Casey Schultz, Agency Partner

Caliber recently hosted Laura Klaes, a marketing intern with our friends at Producers Hybrids. Laura spent a day here to experience the other side of a client-to-agency relationship. Although she only spent one day in the office with us (and I assume it was a bit of information overload for her), I was surprised by what I myself learned and reflected on throughout the day as well.

Much like with a new employee, I took some time to introduce Laura to our team, gave her an office tour and showed off some of the recent work we’ve done with Producers Hybrids, as well as other clients. It was refreshing to view our team and our work from an outside perspective, through the eyes of a person actively learning about our industry and company culture.

Being within our daily grind can make it tough to step back and evaluate things with a fresh, clear perspective. But now I understand just how valuable taking the time to do this can be. Showing around an intern helped me better understand how our company may be viewed by those who aren’t familiar with our history or mission. Most importantly, it reinforced the good things about our company; the people, the work, and the candy jars.

I think Laura will be natural fit for any lucky employer that needs a communications expert who enjoys the hands-on experiences that come with a role in the ag world. Or better yet, if you want to get a firsthand look at what we’re all about you can stop by the office – maybe we’ll even put you to work!
