Win With Social
By Caliber Creative

Staying on top of social media for your business can be hard. Especially when there’s so many different channels to choose from. Below I’ve outlined 5 ways to simplify social media.
1. Create a Schedule.
- Using Microsoft Excel or another calendar data entry program, plan out a yearly or monthly schedule. This can be used to control the process of creating content, brainstorming ideas, and defining where and when to publish. It typically looks like the example below.
- Tip: Use Analytics to find out what day of the week and and time of day is optimal for your audience. Then sit down and use a scheduling tool to schedule posts ahead of time.

2. Focus on overarching themes, topics or ideas.
- If you’re having trouble finding content for your social media pages – try finding a theme or topic for each month out of the year. Then plan 4-5 posts for the month revolving around that theme.
- Here’s an example for a fitness center: January – New Year’s Resolutions, February: Cardio, March: Women’s Fitness, etc…
3. Create ahead of time.
- Chose a day every month to sit down and plan the next month’s schedule. Building a time into your workflow will ensure that you don’t let it slip away from you. Planning a set of posts for the month will also ensure you don’t forget about it – and helps keep your pages consistently populated. It works best to plan a certain amount of content the month before, and then make a few updates as the month goes on with timely posts.
- Tip: Some fun posts for the month can revolve around holidays that relate to your business. Here you can find a list of holidays for each month: http://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/us/.
4. Ask these questions.
- To get value out of social media you have to consider both what your goal is and what your customers want to hear from you. It’s a waste of time for you if you aren’t seeing any return on the time investment. Here are a few questions you should ask yourself:
- What do I consider a win on social media? Engagement, Sales, Followers, etc.?
- What are my customers looking for from me or my business?
- What topics have performed well with my audience in the past?
- Where is my audience online? Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.?
- How can I cross promote my other channels?
- Sometimes planning ahead and building out content just isn’t possible with your already full to do list. Or the added stress is too much to handle. Either way it might be time to outsource your social media accounts. Social media can have a huge impact on your brand identity and can translate into positive ROI when done correctly.
